I filed green card with my old emp. in 2002, i applied for i485 July/07 and in APR/08 i change my job to similar profession, now i work and live in MD, and my interview for status adj is sch in NJ, should i notify and change address to MD since i live , work and my current emp. in MD. Please help....

I see thread for all other years (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007). So its my turn to open thread for my year.
Mine is EB2, Feb 2002. Still waiting. I was told that my NC is cleared.
3 SR, 2 letters to Ombudsman, letters to 3 senators, letters to 2 representatives, 2 fax to NSC, 2 letters to NSC Director, 1 infopass, numerous calls to NSC
Recently sent a letter to first lady. Looks like all of them are working together. Nobody wanted to respond.
Please feel free to write your experience if you are 2002 filer.

The New York Times recently ran a profile piece on radio show host Filemon Lopez who broadcasts in native languages from a station in Fresno, California to poor Mixtec Indians from Mexico working in agriculture in central California. Lopez, a beneficiary of the 1986 legalization program, has been in the US for 30 years. He brings a little piece of home to immigrants performing backbreaking work to put food on our tables.

PBS launched a wonderful new series this evening entitled Faces of America which examines the family history of 12 notable figures in contemporary America. The figures profiled are diverse and include Dr. Mehmet Oz, Meryl Street, Kristi Yamaguchi, Malcolm Gladwell Stephen Colbert and Yo-Yo Ma. I was pleased to see Mike Nichols on the list. The perjury trial of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby goes to the jury this week. The case speaks to several issues -- how the Bush administration deals with critics of the war in Iraq, and the games that Washington's reporters and politicians play with each other. As far as the jury is concerned, however, the case is about only one thing: lying.
One particularly well-qualified witness on this subject was not called by either the prosecution or the defense, so today we cross-examine Robert Feldman ourselves. Feldman is a social psychologist at the University of Massachusetts who studies lying in everyday life, and his findings are just the kind of thing that Libby's lawyers could have pounced on.
Feldman's experiments show that stern-faced judicial proceedings about perjury are as remote from the realities of human behavior as President Bush is from the Nobel Peace Prize. For one thing, lying plays a more complex role in human relationships than the black-and-white legal view recognizes. It is also so commonplace in everyday life that putting people on trial for lying is somewhat like putting them on trial for breathing.
Experiments have found that ordinary people tell about two lies every 10 minutes, with some people getting in as many as a dozen falsehoods in that period. More interestingly -- and Libby might see this as the silver lining if he is found guilty -- Feldman also found that liars tend to be more popular than honest people. (Ever notice how popular politicians somehow change their minds on controversial issues such as the war in Iraq at the exact moment that public opinion on those issues changes?)

I have a few questions here.
1. Does it really matter what date the 485 application was filed, if it was filed within the specified time-period ?
I mean, will it matter if someone applied for 485 on July 30th or August 17th, other than trying for an EAD and AP earlier ?
2. Is there a benefit of applying early in the timeframe, in getting an approved 485 ?
Please respond at your convenience.

My Wife is on H4/AOS.
Her H4 is going to expire in September and she is planning to travel soon.
She has AP and EAD but never used. I am on H1 and used AC21.
My questions are..
1) Can she go to home country and get her H4 stamped and return on H4?
2) Apply AP and return on AP?
3) Assume...If she returns on AP...and show valid EAD while entering at POE....
But by that time her H4 expires.... In this scenario...do we still need to apply H4 extension after entering US?
4) Who supposed to apply H4? Is it employer or H1 holder can also apply H4?

I am doing my second masters from a university with a valid i20. I have a CPT till the end of Aug 2008. I have a approval notice for H1B with start date of OCT 1 2008.
I am planning to discontinue the course from Fall (Starts sep 1st) 2008. Because there is only one month gap between Fall Semester and H1b start, is it possible i stay in the US without taking any courses at the university. i do not mind not working if i have an option to stay back in US till oct 1st.
i am trying to avoid a hefty fee for the whole semester, i need to fill the gap from SEP 1st 2008 to OCT 1st 2008

My full 6 years of H-1B expires in Jan 2010. My labor will be filed in Jan 2009. I would like to go back to school full time on F-1 in Fall 09. At that time, I would still have 5 months of H-1B time remaining plus a priority date. After I graduate, find a job on a new OPT, would it be enough time to start a new GC processing, without having to go back home for a year?
